Genju of the Cedars

The genius of the recursive Genju Auras is that they invert which half of a creature-land is the liability. A traditional manland like Treetop Village or Mutavault asks for mana to animate and then bleeds a whole permanent if the activated creature gets killed, no card back. Here the Forest is the disposable half: kill the animated 4/4 and removal only costs you the land, while the Aura comes back to your hand and a single green mana re-suits a fresh Forest next turn. The single-card resilience is the entire pitch in a grinding attrition matchup, where a one-drop that outlasts every kill spell in the deck wins on raw card economy. The animation is instant-speed, which cuts both ways: you can leave the Forest as a land all through your opponent's turn and flash up a surprise 4/4 blocker, then swing as a Spirit on your own turn, dodging sorcery-speed removal and pre-combat sweepers in the windows you choose. The cost is a steep mana tax: the Forest is both a mana source and your beater, and tapping it for spells the turn you want to attack is off the table. A 4/4 anchored to a single Forest is a slow clock and a fragile mana base in the same breath, the price you pay for an attacker that keeps clawing its way back from the graveyard.
