Fortifying Draught

InstantGreen mana

The self-referential wording does all the work: the pump keys off life gained this turn, not just the two life the spell itself provides. Fired cold on some creature, it's a modest green trick with a life buffer stapled on, the boost barely clearing the floor. But the ceiling is bounded only by what you have already fed the counter earlier in the turn: a Soul Warden trigger, a Soul's Attendant firing on your own creatures, any incidental drain, and the spell scales into a finisher that reads back its own history. "The amount of life you gained this turn" rewards sequencing your gains before you fire it, converting padding you would otherwise treat as passive into a stored charge for the pump. Green rarely gets to play that game; lifegain-as-resource is usually a white or black axis, and handing a green trick a payoff that scales off it is a genuine cross-color experiment. Instant speed compounds the effect, letting you hold the card while the turn's incidental gains accumulate before you commit once combat resolves the way you want. A tiny card built around a large idea, and the idea is that a life total can be a fuel gauge rather than a cushion.
