Soul's Attendant

Creature — Human ClericWhite mana

The optional twin of Soul Warden. Both Clerics share the same trigger ("whenever another creature enters") and both fire on your own creatures as well as everyone else's; the only seam between them is the "may." Soul Warden's gain is mandatory, this one's is your choice, and that distinction matters more than the identical rate suggests. The optional clause means you can decline the life whenever an opponent wants to punish your life total moving, whether that is a symmetric drain effect or a payoff that cares about the gain itself. The 1/1 body is irrelevant; nobody resolves this for combat. What it actually is, is a passive lifegain tax on every creature that hits the battlefield, a drip that scales with how many bodies the game produces. Running it alongside Soul Warden is the point rather than redundancy: two triggers per creature, both engines stacking precisely because creatures keep entering. The life by itself wins nothing; it is fuel, and the design quietly assumes a downstream payoff (a lifegain trigger, a life-to-cards converter, an Aetherflux Reservoir-style threshold) that turns the steady accrual into something that closes games. Left alone it is a slow, fragile, safe trickle. Built around, it is the second copy of an effect that snowballs as the board widens, with the "may" handing you the steering wheel its mandatory sibling never had.
