A two-mana surveil-and-gain spell reads as pure setup, and on the front half it is: no card is drawn, just a two-deep dig and a small life buffer. The design lives in the second cast. Flashback buys back a fundamentally different card from the graveyard, however it got there (cast, milled, or discarded): the spell exiles itself and returns transformed as a Saga creature with a finality counter, converting a dead card into a body that walks through three chapters before sacrificing itself. Chapter I peels a card and keeps it only if it is a permanent, so the dig is real but conditional; Chapter II makes two green mana; Chapter III fires a team-wide +2/+2 and trample the turn the Saga leaves play. The finality counter is what keeps this from spiraling: exile-instead-of-die means the transformed side can be recurred once and then never again, so the reward is a genuine second life rather than a loop. What most double-faced cards do not attempt is this staging of value across zones: the same slot is a cheap early play, a green mana source, and a delayed anthem-finisher, drawn out over the several turns a three-chapter Saga takes to resolve. It lets a deck run fewer discrete cards while still curving into a payoff that arrives from a zone opponents have stopped watching.
