Elven Cache

Sorcery2 generic manaGreen manaGreen mana

Green's claim to graveyard recursion, sold at the rate green has always paid for it. The effect itself is colorless in spirit: pull any one card back from the bin to your hand, no restriction on type, no exile clause, no downside beyond the cost. The price is the whole story. Spending a full turn and four mana to retrieve a single card is the tax green has historically accepted for being the color allowed to do this at all. Where black bought back creatures cheaply with Raise Dead and blue rarely got to touch its graveyard, green's take on Regrowth has long been broad but ponderous: it can return a land, an artifact, a spell, anything, and it makes you give up your sorcery-speed slot to do it. The card is named and framed as a piece of mono-green's elf-and-forest identity, but mechanically it is the workmanlike floor of the regrowth lineage, the version with no efficiency bonus and no clever fold. It exists to establish what the baseline costs, so that anything cheaper or more flexible has something to be measured against.
