Myriad is a mechanic built for a specific asymmetry: it turns a single attacker into a fan of attacks, one per opponent, at no extra cost in cards or mana. Most creatures that carry it want a big enough body or a good enough attack trigger to make those tokens hurt. This one solves the problem differently. The printed body is a 0/4, a wall that does nothing on offense until it swings, at which point it grows by the defending player's land count. In a multiplayer game the myriad copies each measure themselves against the player they are pointed at, so a table full of developed manabases becomes a table full of oversized trample bodies, each sized to the victim it is attacking. Note that the pump counts every land the defender controls, tapped or not, so ramp does not have to be idle to feed the attacker. The design ties the payoff directly to the thing myriad already rewards (more opponents) and folds in a second axis (opponents who have committed to their manabase). Trample matters more here than it looks, because a variable attacker keyed off lands will routinely dwarf whatever chump it runs into, and the excess has to go somewhere. The whole package is a mono-red aggro engine dressed as a defensive creature: a stat line that reads as a blocker, an attack trigger whose payoff only materializes across a full table, and a pump that scales with exactly the players who have done nothing to deserve it except develop their mana.
