Early Harvest

Instant1 generic manaGreen manaGreen mana

Tap your Forests, cast this, tap them again: in practice it is a green mana doubler, but the design hides that doubling inside an untap clause rather than a flat "add mana" line, so the payoff scales with the board you already have rather than with the spell itself. The ceiling is hard, because only basics untap and only the mana you can profitably spend in a single instant-speed window matters. That instant-speed timing is the load-bearing decision. Green ramp of this era leaned on sorcery-speed effects, so resolving the untap at instant speed means the burst can be banked into an end-of-turn play or held until a combo piece resolves. It reads "target player," not just its caster, which looks like flavor symmetry but mostly exists because untapping someone else's lands was rarely worth a card in the era it was printed. Structurally it is a one-shot Mana Reflection: a burst rather than an engine, asking you to have already built the board it rewards. The price of that burst is that it whiffs against a small or nonbasic-heavy manabase, which is exactly the restriction that keeps the doubling from being free. The same color-pie puzzle that produced Mana Flare runs underneath it: how green manufactures explosive mana without leaving its slice of the wheel. A build-around accelerant for decks committed to basic-heavy ramp, and inert in any deck that is not.
