Dungeon Delver

Most Backgrounds staple generic upside onto a commander: an extra card here, a keyword grant there, a mana bump the whole cycle traffics in. This one instead reaches into the dungeon subsystem, a mechanic that otherwise lives almost entirely outside Commander's usual gears, and doubles the room triggers of dungeons you own. That is a narrow hook by design: it does nothing unless you own dungeons, which means you are building around venture cards, and it turbocharges the room abilities specifically, not the venture step itself. The payoff scales with which dungeon you are running. Doubling the rooms of Lost Mine of Phandelver is modest incidental value; doubling the treasure and card-draw stops of the Dungeon of the Mad Mage, or firing a completion effect twice, is where the effect earns its slot. What sets it apart from the rest of the cycle is that it points a commander at an entire secondary engine rather than padding a stat line. But the grant rides on your commander creatures, not on the enchantment as a global rule, so the doubling is only as durable as the commander's presence on the battlefield: send the commander to the command zone, or answer it with removal, and the rooms go back to firing once even while this enchantment sits untouched. That double fragility, the commander and the enchantment both being an answer away, is the tax on an otherwise generous engine.
