Dire Wolf Prowler

Creature — Wolf2 generic manaGreen mana

Firebreathing usually runs open-ended: pour mana in and swing for a surprise kill. This design pointedly refuses that pattern, capping the pump at a single +2/+2 per turn so the 2/2 tops out at a hasty 4/4 no matter how much mana floods the board. That clamp closes the door on any one-card burst finish and keeps the wolf a beater rather than an engine part. The haste folded into the same activation does real work: the creature can crash in immediately after resolving, or sit as a modest body that abruptly represents four power once there is spare mana to spend. Since nothing pins the button to your own turn, that mana can also fund an ambush during combat, punishing an attacker who read the 2/2 as safe to trade with. Getting to four power costs three mana to cast plus another two to fire the ability, and the once-each-turn limit fixes the ceiling exactly where it was drawn: one boost, one attacker, no runaway spiral. The result is a firebreather deliberately built not to combo out, trading the ceiling most pump creatures chase for a reliable floor and an instant-speed window that keeps opposing combat math honest.
