Cyber Conversion

Polymorph effects usually rewrite a creature by rerolling it into whatever your library coughs up, but this one refuses to gamble: the target lands on a fixed 2/2 Cyberman artifact creature, no randomness, no library dependency. That determinism is the whole point of the design. It functions as a two-mana instant that strips the target of its text, abilities, keywords, and printed stats, then hands the reduced body back to the same controller. A commander becomes a vanilla bear; a giant threat shrinks to something combat can trade with; a creature whose value lived in its abilities loses all of it while remaining a legal, blockable, killable permanent. The face-down clause is the interesting wrinkle: because the creature is turned face down rather than transformed, it becomes a 2/2 with no name and no memory of what it was, which sidesteps a set of "return to owner" or death-trigger considerations that outright removal would spring. It is a removal spell that never actually removes: the creature stays on the battlefield, still yours to fight through, but neutered. Priced at instant speed, it answers a threat mid-combat or in response to an activation, catching an ability on the stack too late to save the body underneath it. The Cyberman flavor (conversion, assimilation into an identical unit) is doing real narrative work atop a genuinely old effect: the pacifying pseudo-removal that turns something dangerous into something disposable.
