Crosis's Charm

Three colors of mana buys three answers, and this charm was built around exactly that arithmetic: one instant that bounces a permanent, kills almost any creature, or breaks an artifact, with no two modes covering the same ground. That non-overlap is what keeps the card from sitting dead in hand. The bounce is the unconditional line, lifting any permanent (lands, creatures, artifacts, enchantments, planeswalkers) off the battlefield for a tempo swing. The kill mode is the sharper one: a destroy-with-no-regeneration that cut through the era's regenerating beaters cleanly, walled off only by black creatures, which is precisely where the artifact and bounce modes pick up the slack. Against a creatureless control draw you still have a tempo play plus a target on whatever rock or equipment they lean on. The price of all that flexibility is the Grixis arc itself: blue, black, and red, every time. You pay for the third color not in raw power but in the right to pick your answer after the problem is on the table, which is the entire pitch of three-color modal removal. The bounce handles what destruction cannot, the destruction handles what bounce only stalls, and the artifact line exists so the dead-draw scenario almost never arrives. That is a deceptively tight piece of design: each mode is there to cover the others' blind spots, not to pile on redundant power.
