Crime // Punishment
Two halves that do unrelated work, joined only by a shared black pip. Crime is reanimation pointed across the table: it lifts a creature or enchantment out of an opponent's graveyard and onto your side of the board, so a dragon that died or an angel that got milled becomes your threat to deploy rather than their card to mourn. Theft and recursion folded into one Orzhov sorcery, punishing an opponent for what they have already lost. Punishment is the wrath you tune to the curve, destroying every artifact, creature, and enchantment whose mana value equals X: cleanup you point at exactly one rung of the board, sweeping a field of two-drops or surgically erasing a lone seven-mana bomb while everything above and below it stands untouched.
The split is built around a color spread rather than the usual casting flexibility. The two halves agree only on black: Crime is white-black, Punishment is black-green, so the card straddles three colors with black as the hinge. That spread is the design's whole point, demanding an Abzan footprint to unlock both sides, and the cost of admission buys two answers that work nothing alike. Punishment is straight "destroy," not exile or sacrifice, so indestructible shrugs it off the way it shrugs off any board wipe; its selling point is the named mana value, an answer that asks nothing about a permanent except what it cost. Crime asks the opposite question: not what a card cost, but whether it already died.
