Courier's Capsule

Artifact1 generic manaBlue mana

The card-drawing math here is a deliberate exercise in deferral. Pay two mana up front, draw nothing, and bank an artifact on the battlefield as a stored card-draw spell you cash in later for another two mana and a tap. The total outlay lands at four mana split across a cast and a single activation for a Divination's worth of cards, a worse rate than just casting a draw spell outright. But the design is buying something rate alone does not measure: timing flexibility and the ability to flatten a curve. On a clogged turn you slot it down for almost nothing and pull the trigger when you would otherwise have idle mana, smoothing a sequence rather than spending a whole turn cantripping. Because it sits on the board as an artifact instead of resolving immediately, it survives the counterspell window the moment it enters and quietly accrues value for any deck that cares about artifacts entering or leaving play, sacrifice triggers, or recursion looking for a cheap permanent to throw away. This is the unglamorous backbone of slow blue decks: a card that does not win games or generate raw advantage so much as guarantee you will not run out of gas, parceling its payoff across two moments you choose rather than one the opponent can see coming.
