Two cards, no rider, no condition, no instant-speed wrinkle: this is the control sample of the blue card-draw experiment, the unornamented effect designers calibrate everything else against. The line has been printed before and since under other names, with Divination running the identical text for the identical cost; the broader family of two-card draws orbits this same point on the curve, with Inspiration paying a mana for instant speed and Concentrate paying a mana for a third card. The whole value of the spell is how little there is to say about it. Shave the rate and you get filler; bump it and you get a staple; attach a clause and you get a build-around. Plain, sorcery-speed, unconditioned double-draw is the deliberately uninteresting reference point, the flat line any later refinement has to clear before it counts as doing real work. The moonfolk who lend the card its name are flavor dressing; mechanically it is the unfussy answer to wanting two cards when nothing sharper is available. Most decks that want this effect want it cheaper, faster, or stapled to a body, so the clean double-draw keeps getting reprinted as a known quantity rather than something anyone constructs around.
