Green has always shot down fliers; that is the color's job, from the reach of its biggest creatures to the dedicated hate of Plummet, Hurricane, and Whirlwind. What this adds to that tradition is a sweeper that scales: rather than killing one flier or dealing a fixed amount, X lets you size the damage to the exact board in front of you, then ignores everything on the ground. Your own fatties, your token swarm, your mana dorks all survive while the opposing skies clear. That ground-immune asymmetry is the pitch, and it is the structural cousin of Hurricane without the self-inflicted damage to your own face. The Phyrexian mana on the is doing flexibility work, not power work: two life covers it when a green source isn't online, so the spell stays castable in decks that lean green only for this effect. The constraints are honest. It is a sorcery, so there is no ambushing an attacker mid-combat; the damage commits at your own pace, not in response to a swing. And X scales linearly, so a spread of large, high-toughness fliers still costs you full price per point. Narrow by design and unbothered by it: a board wipe that only reads as live against a specific shape of opposing board, handed to the color that has always policed the air but rarely got to do it all at once.
