Canopy Spider
The textbook green defensive common, built to do exactly one job and do it cleanly: two mana for a 1/3 body that walls both the ground and the air at once. The 3 toughness carries the load, sized to survive an early attacker and brick most cheap fliers without trading; the 1 power says plainly that this creature is not coming back to swing. Reach on a spider is the most on-the-nose creature-type design in the game, and this is among the earliest and most unadorned expressions of it: nothing to chase beyond the keyword itself, just a green answer to evasion that costs less than the threats it stops. That economy is the point. Defensive commons like this exist to give a color its slow, grinding pillow without handing it a finisher, and green's whole identity around big-toughness blockers and reach-as-fauna flavor runs through cards cut from this exact pattern. It teaches the floor of a color rather than the ceiling: a clean rate, a clear role, and nothing asked of the player except to leave it back on defense.
