The clearest distillation of what cipher was actually trying to do. The mechanic asks you to spend a card's worth of mana now to staple it onto a creature, betting that the creature lands combat damage often enough to recur the spell for free across multiple turns. Most cipher cards struggled with that bet: the encoded creature has to connect, and a removal spell undoes the whole investment. This one quietly solves its own delivery problem. The spell makes a flying 1/1 token on resolution, and that evasive body is precisely the kind of creature you want to encode the spell onto, so the card generates its own carrier and then loops itself onto it. The encoded spell stays put on its chosen creature; every connection casts a free copy that resolves into another flier, widening the board while the original keeps re-triggering. The token swarm and the recursion engine are the same line of text feeding each other, which is the most elegant fit the keyword ever found. The cost is patience: the first cast is just a 1/1 for four mana, and the payoff only compounds if the board stays open long enough for evasive chip damage to go unanswered. Cipher as a whole leaned hard on that fantasy of a slow, self-perpetuating tempo grind, and few cards in the cycle expressed it with this little friction between the spell's effect and the spell's ideal encode target.
