Green's version of card advantage has always come with a physical body attached, and this is the design squaring that instinct with self-mill. The two Food tokens are the fuel and the tempo cushion: a five-power trampler that arrives with six stored life on the board is already fair, but the tokens exist to be spent. Each attack converts one into a three-card mill and a selective grab, and the restriction is what makes the engine legible: you can only lift a permanent from the top three, so it rewards decks that fill their library with lands and creatures rather than spells. That is the balancing hinge. The mill is small, the selection is narrow, and the resource is finite, so the card can only bury you in cards as fast as your board can keep swinging. The result is a value creature that ties its advantage to combat math instead of a triggered draw step, which is the green way of asking you to earn it. Green has always had a hand in self-mill (Hermit Druid, Satyr Wayfinder, Grapple with the Past all mine the graveyard as a resource), but those cards fill the yard passively; this one gnaws through the library one attack at a time and hands back only the permanents it turns up, while the leftover Food quietly keeps you out of burn range.
