Spell copying has always lived in blue, priced against the fragility of the spell itself: pay the mana, hold up the counter, hope the copy resolves. Here the cost is denominated in bodies instead of cards. Tapping three untapped creatures to fork an instant or sorcery ties a spellslinger's payoff directly to the board a spellslinger usually neglects, which is the whole tension of the design. You want a wide, cheap red-white swarm to feed the copy engine, but every creature you tap is a creature not attacking or blocking that turn, so the ability punishes greedy overextension into open mana as much as it rewards it. The copy inherits the freedom to retarget, which turns a single removal spell into a two-for-one, a single burn spell into a split finisher, or a single ramp-adjacent value spell into a doubled draw. Note the trigger fires on cast, not on resolution, so the copy is created and placed on the stack before the original resolves, and it survives even if the original is countered. A 2/2 that asks you to build both a spell suite and a creature count wide enough to pay for it sits at an unusual intersection: the aggressive board-building of white weenie welded to the payoff structure of a red-white spells deck, with the convergence point being three taps you have to earn every turn you want the double.
