The pairing is deliberate friction: a 4/1 that swells every same-colored ally is exactly the kind of threat that demands an answer, and the retaliation makes that answer expensive. So the opponent gets a choice with no clean exit: leave the engine running, attack into a fragile body and hope to crack it through damage, or spend removal and bleed for it. Designs that fold a board buff into the body that carries it usually solve resilience by hiding; this one solves the same problem by punishing, which puts the pressure on the answer rather than the threat.
