Araña, Heart of the Spider
Boros aggro has spent most of its history caring about numbers on the board: how many creatures, how much haste, how fast. This design cares about a single word instead, "modified," and builds an entire card-advantage engine on top of it. The first trigger fires on every attack, no cost or condition, stapling a +1/+1 counter onto an attacker and thereby turning any creature into a modified one for free. The second trigger is where the reward lives: connect with something modified and you exile-and-play off the top, an impulse-draw payoff that grows with each swing. What makes the combination sharp is that the two abilities feed each other. The attack trigger manufactures exactly the modification the damage trigger demands, so a lone creature and an empty board still generate advantage without Equipment or Auras to prop it up. That self-sufficiency is the real design move; most counters-matter and modified-matters cards have leaned on a supporting cast to come online, and this one arrives already assembled. The 3/3 body for three is deliberately unremarkable, because the value is meant to accrue in combat rather than sit in the stats. It is a red-white commander pitched at go-wide and voltron builds alike, rewarding a board where every creature is at least a little bit modified and the top of your library keeps unloading into the game.
