Akroan Crusader

Creature — Human SoldierRed mana

The cleanest read on how heroic was meant to play. The keyword rewards you for aiming spells at your own creature, and most heroic bodies want that spell to be a pump or a protective trick that survives the turn. This one inverts the incentive: the payoff is a token, not a buff to the body itself, so any cheap spell pointed at it (a one-mana cantrip, a redundant combat trick, even a removal-redirect) widens your board rather than tall-ening a single threat. That makes the 1/1 less a creature you protect and more an engine you feed, and it pairs naturally with anything that doubles or rewards spell-targeting density. The token arriving with haste is the detail that turns it into a tempo play rather than a slow grind: each spell you cast is immediately another point of attacking damage, not a body that has to wait a turn to matter. Where a heroic creature like Phalanx Leader spreads its trigger across a team and Fabled Hero stacks value onto one swing, this one converts each trigger into a fresh attacker, which is why a deck full of one-mana spells reads it as a go-wide payoff disguised as a one-drop.
