The counter-clause is the reason to build around this: any modular triggered ability that would move +1/+1 counters onto a creature you control adds one more. Not a doubler, a plus-one, and the distinction matters because it stacks with the number of dying modular bodies rather than the size of any single pile. When an Arcbound creature dies, its counters plus an extra one land on their new home, so every modular body you sacrifice or lose in combat pays a small toll on top of whatever it was already carrying. Crucially, the buff applies only to the triggered redistribution, not to modular's static enters-with clause, so this is a payoff for creatures leaving, not entering. The red ability supplies the tempo: destroying your own artifacts on demand lets you cash in each modular body when you want the counters moved, rather than waiting for combat to trade them off. The white ability is the mundane rider that lets a grown-up threat connect over the ground. What sharpens all of it is the one-mana frame. Modular 1 means it enters as a 0/0 that comes with a single counter, a body that dies to almost anything, and its replacement effect only functions while it is on the battlefield: once it dies, its own modular trigger resolves with Zabaz already in the graveyard, so it never bonuses its own death. It is a build-around that has to survive its own fragility long enough to boost everything around it, and it wants a deck built wall-to-wall out of modular creatures and artifact recursion, not an incidental counters payoff.
