Your Mistake Is My Triumph

Scheme

Mill as a resource, not a clock: an Archenemy scheme that turns every library into a shared pool and lets the boss fish a permanent out of it. The design leans on the format's asymmetry. In a one-versus-many game the Archenemy is already outnumbered on cards and bodies, so a scheme that grinds three off every player and then hands the boss the best permanent from the whole spread is doing double duty: it can pull a land for ramp, a creature to block, or a bomb the challengers themselves put into the pile. The wrinkle is that the milled cards come from all libraries, so the pool the Archenemy chooses from is often richer than anything its own deck could offer; a well-built team of challengers effectively supplies the boss's next threat. That is the schadenfreude the name is selling. Schemes live in their own oversized deck and fire on set-in-motion rather than being cast, so there is no mana cost to work around, but the ability still triggers onto the stack and can be responded to before it resolves. It is a swingy, table-warping tool built for exactly one game structure, and it reads as filler anywhere that structure is absent.

When you set this scheme in motion, each player mills three cards. Then you put a permanent card from among the milled cards onto the battlefield under your control.
