Scheme

Six lands is the fulcrum this scheme is built around. Below the threshold you pick a lane; at or above it you take both effects at once, which is precisely the point in a long game when the archenemy wants a blowout rather than a nudge. The two modes are opposed in tempo. The three Devil tokens are slow-drip board presence that keeps paying out after they trade, since each death pings a target; the mass downgrade is a single-turn window that strips your opponents' creatures of abilities and shrinks their bodies to 1/1s, timed to land on your own attack step. Getting both means you flood the board with pingers on the same turn your opponents' blockers have become vanilla bodies, and the deaths those trades cause feed straight back into the Devils' damage. The design underneath the fun-first packaging is a clean study in escalation: a land count turns two fair effects into one lopsided turn once the game has run long enough to earn it. Schemes almost never have to worry about symmetry, so the interesting move here is that the payoff scales with the game state rather than firing at full power the moment it is set in motion.

Rules text

When you set this scheme in motion, choose one. If you control six or more lands, choose both instead. • Create three 1/1 red Devil creature tokens with "When this token dies, it deals 1 damage to any target." • Until your next turn, creatures your opponents control have base power and toughness 1/1 and lose all abilities.
