Coin-flip cards are a design lineage Wizards has spent thirty years walking back from, and this stands among the earliest and purest examples: a body priced as if the drawback were real, with a drawback that fires at the worst possible moment for the player who deployed it. The 3/6 statline is the giveaway. At triple-red, you are paying a steep color-intensity tax for a wall-sized blocker, and the math only makes sense once you read the coin flip as a tax on the body rather than a bonus. Every time the Efreet blocks, its controller flips, and on a loss the attacker is waved straight through for full damage. The flip happens on block, not on attack, which is the cruel part: the gamble lands on the defending player, the one trying to use the 3/6 as a wall, while the attacker simply gets a free chance to bypass a creature that would otherwise eat their attacker outright. That asymmetry is what makes the rate honest. A reliable 3/6 for three would be a Constructed staple in any era; a 3/6 that fails to block half the time it tries is a curiosity. Later coin-flip designs like Mijae Djinn carried the same Arabian Nights DNA, putting the random clause on the body's own reliability. Modern design has largely abandoned coin flips in tournament frames, having decided the randomness added play-time without decision density. What survives here is the artifact of an era willing to price a creature against a literal gamble and trust the table to enjoy the swing.
