Yavimaya Enchantress
The body grows with the board, which is the whole pitch: in a deck built around enchantments, this scales without ever asking for a counter or a buyback. The reading is deliberately generous. It counts every enchantment on the battlefield, not just your own, so an opponent's auras and Pacifisms feed it too, and it counts the global enchantments that often go uncounted: the slow value engines, the lockdown pieces, the curse-style permanents that sit doing their job. That breadth is what makes it the lord of the enchantress school, a green archetype that uses cantripping enchantments to refill the hand and a payoff like this one to convert the count into a clock. The friction is honest: a 2/2 that only matters when the enchantment count is high arrives a beat slow with nothing else out, and removal aimed at the enchantments shrinks it twice over. But the rate scales in exactly the direction the deck is already pointed, so every Wild Growth or Rancor you play for another reason is also a +1/+1 here. The design idea (a creature whose size is a tax on the format's enchantment density) showed up again in later enchantress payoffs, but this is the early, clean statement of it: no toughness floor games, no conditional triggers, just a number that tracks the board.
