Wurmweaver Coil

The insurance clause is the whole pitch. Six mana invested in a single creature is the cardinal sin of Aura design: the two-for-one is built into the genre, and a green deck overcommitting to one fattened attacker is exactly the body an opponent's removal spell wants to find. The sacrifice ability is the hedge against that fragility, but the timing is the part most readers misremember. You cannot wait for the trade to happen and then cash in: if the enchanted creature dies, the Aura falls off as a state-based action before you ever get priority, leaving you with nothing. The escape hatch only works as an instant-speed response. See the removal spell on the stack, or read the board in the declare blockers step before damage is dealt, and sacrifice the Coil for three green mana; you end up with a 6/6 Wurm on an otherwise empty board instead of a dead card. That reflex is what redeems the up-front commitment: a steep cost gated behind a green creature to wear it, exchanged for a floor most Auras never had, provided you spend the mana at the right moment. The numbers line up deliberately too; the +6/+6 buff and the 6/6 token are the same statline, so the card commits to one size of effect and lets you pay for it twice. Built for the grindy ground-stall game, where "a giant threat now, or a giant threat later" separates it from the long line of card-disadvantage Auras it otherwise resembles.
