Winged Sliver
Flying is the dimension a ground-bound tribe cannot generate for itself, and this is the Sliver that supplies it: a single keyword grant that hands the entire board evasion and converts a wall of small, traded-down bodies into a clock that combat math no longer answers. The Tempest lords all share one structural trait, a grant that reaches every Sliver on the battlefield regardless of who controls it, and that symmetry is what defined the tribe at its origin: keywords stapled to cheap bodies, each new draw retroactively upgrading everything already in play. Evasion is the sharpest of those grants because it changes the axis of the race rather than its size. Once the board can fly, blockers stop mattering, and a developed Sliver army pivots from grinding attrition to a flat damage count.
The two-sided framing later read as a liability. When Wizards returned to the tribe, it printed controller-restricted lords like Sinew Sliver and Synapse Sliver, a deliberate walk-back of the "your opponent's Slivers fly too" problem the original cycle baked in. But the open version is the one that fixed what Slivers were: a shared toolbox assembled from many hands rather than a vertical scaling of one threat. In a strategy built on overwhelming numbers, getting over the top is usually the last piece the plan is missing, and this card is the one that provides it.
