Wild Pair
The hook here is a tutor keyed to a coordinate axis nobody else cares about: total power plus toughness. Cast any creature from hand and the enchantment fetches a creature whose stats sum to the same number, dropped straight onto the battlefield without paying its cost, which is where the engine turns from cute to dangerous. The matching is exact and total (a 5/3 finds a 6/2, an 8/0, a 1/7, anything summing to eight), so the body you cast and the body you find are addresses on the same shelf rather than a small half cheating in a bigger one. They cannot be bigger in raw stats; they can be wildly more expensive in mana value, which is the whole point. The deckbuilding puzzle is curating a library where every creature you mean to hardcast has a partner sitting at its exact sum, then arriving at the costlier one for free. The constraint that pays for this is easy to overlook: the trigger only fires on creatures cast from hand, so reanimation, tokens, and the fetched creature itself do nothing. You assemble the chain manually, one hardcast at a time. It also represents an early-era strain of green design philosophy, where the color's identity was less "biggest creatures" and more "cheats creatures into play on its own terms." Less a value engine than a combo-assembly tool: pick a pair, cast the cheap half, and the expensive half walks in attached to no mana at all.
