Creature — Yeti3 generic manaGreen manaGreen manaGreen mana

The counter mechanic reads as a growth engine and functions as a decay clock: this Yeti only gains a counter if it has blocked or been blocked since your last upkeep, and sheds one otherwise. That inverts the usual incentive structure of a beater. Most fatties want to connect for damage or sit back as a wall; this one demands combat every single turn cycle, or it withers a counter at a time toward zero and dies to its own upkeep trigger. A body the opponent can defuse simply by refusing to engage it, and that you cannot park safely on defense, is a design at war with itself. The card embodies an early fascination with conditional, self-regulating creatures (the upkeep-cost experiments and cumulative penalties that ran through its set) before the studio learned that a drawback firing on the controller's own turn, outside their control, reads as a trap rather than a tension. The math never resolves in your favor: keeping it alive requires throwing it into combat repeatedly, which is exactly when a 0/0-base body shedding counters is most fragile. It is a museum piece of the era when "interesting" and "good" had not yet been pried apart.
