Two spells folded into one instant, and the base case is a routine choice: paint a target with deathtouch so a small blocker trades up, or shrink a creature by two on each axis to knock out something already fragile. That kind of modal flexibility is what a two-cost instant of this shape has always sold. The teamwork clause is what warrants a second look. Rather than escalating with more mana, it asks you to tap creatures totaling three power, and paying that tax converts the spell from "choose one" into "choose both." Because each mode carries its own target line, both halves resolve independently: the natural line is deathtouch on a creature of yours and -2/-2 on one of theirs, so a single spell both primes a favorable block and clips an opposing body at once. The payoff is coverage, letting the card operate on both sides of the fight in one breath rather than committing its whole effect to a single creature. The tension is structural: the bodies you tap to fuel teamwork are the same ones you wanted swinging or holding the line, and a single three-power creature can foot the entire bill, so the cost scales with board presence rather than punishing a narrow one. It degrades gracefully, too; with nothing to spare, you still hold a clean modal instant. How invested you already are in the fight decides how much the spell gives back.
