White Lotus Hideout

Land

The middle ability is the strange one, and it explains the whole card. A colorless-adds land that can also produce any color for free, but only to cast a Lesson or Shrine, ties an untapped, unconditional fixing land to two narrow spell families. That restriction is doing real design work: it lets the free any-color mana exist without turning this into a strictly-better dual, because outside those two subtypes the card either taps for one colorless or asks you to pay one mana for the color you actually wanted. The result is a fixer that reads as generous to a Lesson-and-Shrine deck and merely adequate to everyone else, which is exactly how you print a flexible land without warping every manabase it could slip into. Structurally it belongs to the lineage of lands that gate their best mode behind a deckbuilding tax rather than a life payment or an enters-tapped clause: the color is there whenever you need it, but the discount is reserved for the archetype the card was built to enable. The colorless-first default is the quiet tell. It means the land is never dead, never a stumble in an opening hand, and never quite free either, and that measured floor is what lets the ceiling be as open as "any color" without the card doing too much.
