A 4/4 for five is a plain rate, and the design knows it; the interest is what the attack trigger does with a resource the rest of the set treated as disposable. Blood tokens were built as low-yield filtering fodder, costing a card and a mana to loot away. This creature repurposes them entirely: on the declare-attackers step, before blockers are chosen, you may cash a banked Blood token for a permanent +1/+1 counter and a fresh card. The trigger fires every time it swings, whether or not you have Blood to feed it; the sacrifice is the optional cost that decides whether it does anything. That optionality is the balancing hinge. The ceiling is tied entirely to how much Blood the deck around it manufactures, so the same body that grows into a genuine threat is inert to the engine once the token supply runs dry. Where the loop earns its keep is the timing: the growth and the draw resolve at the moment of attack, not at sorcery speed and not gated behind combat damage. A chump block cannot deny you the card, and even a removal spell in response to the trigger still nets the card, though the counter it would have placed dies with the creature. It is a payoff card wearing a beater's stat line, and it only pays a deck already committed to producing the token type it wants to eat.
