War Oracle
One unblocked hit is the entire proposition, and this creature is built to make that hit pay compounding dividends. Renown and lifelink feed each other: connect once and you gain three life, the body swells to 4/4, and every subsequent swing drains more because lifelink scales with power. That upward curve is the design's bet. On raw rate the 3/3 body is forgettable; the payoff is deferred until you get through, at which point the lifeswing can bend a race that looked even a turn earlier. The keyword pairing is what makes the escalation meaningful, since renown here does not just enlarge a threat, it permanently raises the lifegain floor of every future combat. The catch is that nothing fires until the attack actually lands, so a chump-block or a removal spell before the first connection unwinds the whole plan. That vulnerability explains why renown as a mechanic leaned so heavily on evasion and reach effects: the keyword pays out aggression but goes flat against a stalled board. A Human Cleric body slots naturally into the go-wide white shells that specialize in forcing a single attacker through, which is exactly the environment this card was drawn for.
