Wall of Forgotten Pharaohs

Artifact Creature — Wall2 generic mana

The pinging defender is a small, persistent design lane: a 0/4 body that never blocks its way into relevance but taps to send a single point somewhere useful, in the tradition of Lobber Crew and Vent Sentinel. This one narrows the target to a player or planeswalker, so the reach clock and the ground wall are two separate jobs from one two-mana card: the toughness holds the line while the tap ability chips at life totals and burns off loyalty. The catch is the activation rider. The ability wakes up only when a Desert is either in play under your control or already sitting in your graveyard, which means the card stays inert in any pile that isn't running the land theme it was built around. That tax is deliberate: it keeps the ping from being a free splashable pinger in decks that happen to run a few colorless lands, and instead ties the payoff to a specific archetype's engine coming together. The clock is glacial, one damage a turn with no way to aim it at an attacker, but the point isn't tempo; it's that a wall which defends and pressures a planeswalker at the same time earns its slot cheaply, provided you've already paid the deckbuilding cost the ability asks for.
