Vuzzle Spaceship
The Spaceship keyword folds a creature's hull, stat line, and wiring into one resource: the six +1/+1 counters are simultaneously the body, the durability, and the power supply. On a 0/0 base, every point of incoming damage strips a counter rather than marking the creature, which turns the usual counter-as-shield idea inside out. A normal creature stays fully functional right up until it dies; this one loses capability in graduated stages as the stack erodes it. Both abilities read counter thresholds rather than the creature's current state, so the systems blink off one at a time: flight stays online at six or more, the attack-trigger burn at three or more, and each point of damage that shrinks the ship also inches it toward going dark. The lasers cut out well before the hull is gone. Because the gates key on counters, any effect that adds +1/+1 counters literally repairs the vessel mid-flight, welding the thrusters back on or re-arming the laser array between combats. That is the design worth studying: not a barrier that soaks one hit and vanishes, but a set of subsystems that degrade under fire, shrink the creature as they degrade, and can be rebuilt to spec. Flavor and rules text describe the same object here, which is what makes it such a coherent read of counter-as-durability: the ship you can see is the ship the numbers model.
