Voyager Staff

Artifact1 generic mana

Most flicker effects live in white or blue and stay tied to those colors' enters-the-battlefield value engines; this one sells the same exile-and-return loop to any deck willing to spend two mana, which is the whole reason it surfaces far outside the colors that usually own the mechanic. The sacrifice cost is what pays for that universality: it is a one-shot, so the staff cannot grind value turn after turn the way a repeatable blinker can. What it buys instead is a single high-impact window. Pull a creature out from under targeted removal on the stack, dodge a board wipe, re-trigger one enters-the-battlefield ability at exactly the moment it matters. The exile-and-return timing also reads as a clean answer to anything stapled to a permanent: auras, counters, and other riders fall off when the creature leaves and do not come back when it returns. Because the card comes back at the next end step rather than immediately, it is a protective and reset tool, not a way to send a creature back into the same combat; the returned creature is a new object with summoning sickness. It targets any creature, not just your own, which turns the effect into a removal-tax or a way to strand an opponent's blocker for a turn. Colorless flexibility at the price of one use is the trade the card was built around.
