Trample alone is a familiar evasion patch: the attacker still gets gang-blocked, the defender still trades down. The second clause is the actual engineering here, capping the equipped creature to a single blocker so the trample math stops at one body. Combine the two and the defender's options collapse: they may throw exactly one creature in front, and everything past that blocker's toughness spills through unimpeded. That makes this most valuable not on a small attacker but on something with a big, hard-to-trade body, where forcing the single block turns a would-be chump into a tax that bleeds life every turn. The cost structure dates it: two to cast and only one to equip, friendly numbers from an early stretch when Equipment was new enough that the templates were still being calibrated, before the format learned to fear suiting up a single threat. Where later evasion-granting gear leaned on flying or unblockable to remove the blocker entirely, this one keeps a defender in the equation and simply limits how many can show up, a quieter, more combat-math answer to the same problem. There is a sharper wrinkle for the technically minded: stack this on a creature that already has menace and the two restrictions cancel each other into outright unblockability, since nothing can satisfy "blocked by exactly one" and "blocked by at least two" at once.
