Volcanic Dragon
The textbook printing of the haste-dragon template, and one of the earliest red dragons built around getting in for damage the turn it lands. The combination is the whole pitch: a flying 4/4 that arrives already able to attack solves the dragon's oldest problem, which is that a six-mana creature normally hands the opponent a full turn to answer it before it does any work. Flying plus haste collapses that window. The body itself is plain by later standards (no card advantage, no enters-the-battlefield trigger, no firebreathing), and that restraint is the point: this is the rate that established the floor for the archetype rather than a card trying to push past it. Generations of red dragons since have started from this stat line and bought their extra abilities by raising the cost or adding a drawback. As a design artifact it functions as a baseline measurement, the version Wizards could point to when deciding how much a flying haste creature is worth before any other text is added.
