Voice of the Vermin
The attack trigger is a repeatable stat-setter that cuts both ways, and that duality is the whole design. Base power and toughness 4/4 is a buff pointed at your one-drops and a nerf pointed at anything you already grew past it, which quietly disciplines how you deploy it: it wants a board of small bodies to promote, not a finished threat to shrink. The shield counter on entry buys the first attack, letting a fragile 2/2 body survive the block or removal that would otherwise strip the engine before it fires once. Setting base stats rather than adding a bonus is the sharper end of the effect, since it can rescue a creature whose base stats have been reduced, and it stacks predictably with any pump you layer on top. As a piece of green combat design, it sits in the tradition of anthem-on-a-body creatures that reward going wide with cheap creatures, though the fixed 4/4 line and the once-per-combat cadence keep the ceiling in check against larger midrange threats.
