Vito's Inquisitor

Creature — Vampire Knight3 generic manaBlack mana

The sacrifice cost here is doing double work, and that is worth sitting with. Most creatures that eat your own board for value pay you back in card advantage or life; this one pays in raw combat threat, converting fodder into permanent size and a one-turn evasion window. Because the counter sticks while the menace does not, the ability rewards you for feeding it before the swing rather than in response to a block: you build the body in advance, then top it off the turn you attack so a single blocker cannot stop it, forcing the defender to commit a second creature to the trade or take it all. That the fuel can be a creature or an artifact widens the intake considerably, letting Treasure tokens, spent Clues, and dying utility pieces all convert into growth without a dedicated sacrifice outlet in the deck. The mana tax on each activation sets the ceiling: at one black per counter you are trading tempo for size, bounded by how much black you can float in a turn. It is a repeatable engine that asks the aristocrats deck to spend its recurring death fodder on the attack step instead of a drain trigger, pulling the archetype toward a faster clock and away from grind-you-out inevitability.
