Vitaspore Thallid
A freshly cast threat that should have been summoning-sick can swing anyway, and that is the wrinkle this Fungus contributes to a mechanic that had spent its earlier appearances banking counters for combat tricks and ground-stalling chumps. The familiar engine is intact: a counter each upkeep, three counters cashed for a token, a body that never fights well on its own. What changes is the sacrifice outlet. Earlier members of this Fungus family fed their Saprolings into pumps or chump blocks; here the swarm becomes haste fuel, and that single substitution reroutes what the counters are for. Slow token accumulation stops being purely defensive ammunition and becomes a way to ambush across the red zone, handing reach to a freshly cast threat on the turn the board is otherwise locked. The deciding swing is often the one that lands a step early, and this is built to manufacture exactly that step. The bill is patience and a 1/1 frame: three full upkeeps per Saproling before any of the tempo math comes online, and a creature that contributes nothing in combat until the swarm arrives. It rewards a deck already committed to going wide and grinding the spore economy, then keeps an aggressive lever in reserve for the moment grinding alone will not close the game.
