Suspend was the cleverest tax-deferral trick the era ever printed: pay one blue up front, wait four turns, and the spell arrives free and hasty. On a Homarid Warrior whose only trick is to grow with leftover mana, that haste matters more than the body suggests, because the pump can be poured into the 2/3 the moment it lands rather than buried under the full five-mana hardcast price. The asymmetry is the whole design. Cast it from hand and you pay
for a fragile two-power creature plus a mana sink that wants every spare blue you have; suspend it instead and you trade four turns of patience for a permanent discount, betting that the wait buys you a clock you would otherwise overpay to deploy. The Homarid tribe always read as the slow underdog of blue, and this one is a tidy small case of how suspend was meant to reward that patience: the more awkwardly a creature sits on the curve at full cost, the more sense it makes to file it away early and let the time counters tick. What the mechanic really resolved was blue's chronic problem of clunky midrange bodies with no good slot to be cast. Suspend gave them a back door, a way to be set up on turn one and felt on turn five without ever competing for the busy turns in between.
