Vindictive Vampire

An aristocrat payoff built on the same drain trigger as Blood Artist and Zulaport Cutthroat: one damage to each opponent and one life gained every time another creature you control dies. The rate is identical to its cousins; the difference is the body. Blood Artist and Zulaport Cutthroat are one- and two-drops, fragile enough that a single point of incidental damage sweeps them before the death engine ever spins up. This is a 2/3 for four, trading speed and price for a frame that no longer folds to a stray point of pinging or a one-toughness mini-sweeper: three toughness clears the small-damage clean-up that would otherwise pick off either of the cheaper drainers. It does not survive a real wrath, and it was never meant to; what the extra mana buys is durability against the chip damage that plagues the tiny bodies, not immunity to actual removal. Everything else follows the archetype's usual arithmetic. It counts only "another creature," so it never triggers on its own death; and, like every effect of this shape, it is inert until you have already assembled the outlet and the fodder to feed it. Over a board of tokens run through a free sacrifice outlet, the drain becomes a two-way clock: each death is a point off every opponent and a point onto your own total, so the same trigger presses the race forward and props up the life buffer that keeps the engine alive long enough to matter.
