Victory Chimes

Artifact3 generic mana

Most mana rocks tap once a turn and go dormant until you come around again. This one wakes up on every opponent's untap step, so a full circuit of a four-player table yields four colorless instead of one. That mechanic makes it a pod animal by construction: heads-up, the single extra untap only doubles the output, and the rock stops being interesting. The real wrinkle is where the mana goes. The colorless it produces is added to a player of your choice, which reads like a drawback and functions as the entire design. A rock that can only ramp its controller is a resource; a rock that can ramp anyone at the table is leverage. You can hand an opponent a mana to seal a temporary truce, feed the player you need alive through a deal, or manufacture the sort of obligation that multiplayer politics runs on and then quietly stop paying it out the moment the vote is cast. A calculating pilot squeezes extra colorless out of it for the whole table when that serves them; a shrewder one treats every activation as a bargaining chip and never spends it on anyone who is not buying something. Cards written for the asymmetric-turn rhythm of a pod rather than the symmetric duel are rare enough; rarer still are the ones that bake the negotiation directly into the mana ability instead of leaving it to table talk.
