Verdant Force

A token engine that runs on the whole table's clock. The trigger fires at the beginning of each upkeep, not just yours, so at a multiplayer table you bank a Saproling on every opponent's turn as well as your own: by the time the wheel comes back around, several have already arrived. Every one of them is yours; the trigger is asymmetrical by construction, sized to the number of upkeeps the game offers rather than split among the players who supply them. The design logic is straightforward high-end green: pay eight, plant a 7/7 that already trades with most things, and let the board compound until it overwhelms. What it lacks is immediacy. A Saproling at a time is the slowest way to turn mana into pressure, so the card lives and dies on whether the game lasts long enough for the count to matter and whether the body survives long enough to keep feeding it. Kill it and the engine stops cold: the tokens already made stay, but the snowball quits growing. It is a finisher built for grindy, crowded-board games where upkeeps are plentiful, the kind of payoff that rewards reaching the back half of a game rather than racing through the front of one.
