A 1/1 that draws a card on connect is a design Wizards has tuned and retuned for decades: Ophidian asked you to attack and trade its combat damage, Curiosity bolted the trigger onto a creature you already controlled, Coastal Piracy taxed the whole team. This strips the engine to its leanest form and prices it plainly: no upkeep, no attack-trigger tax, just damage-to-an-opponent equals a card. The catch is the one every fragile cantrip-creature shares: a 1/1 dies to anything and gets chump-blocked by everything, so every card hangs on the body slipping through unanswered. What the green-blue identity buys is the apparatus to make that happen, since both colors are flush with evasion, pump, and protection, and any of them turns a chip-damage nuisance into a recurring source of cards. The payoff scales with how easily the opponent declines to block a one-power attacker, then converts that single unblocked point into resource advantage turn after turn. That dependency is what defines it: less a standalone threat than a finisher for a board you have already pried open, asking the deckbuilder to supply the means of connection rather than supplying its own.
