Phasing was the mechanic everyone assumed had been quietly retired: a temporary-removal keyword from an era when the rules team was still working out how "as though they didn't exist" should interact with everything, and it fell out of design favor for years because tracking phased-out permanents at a real table is a headache. This planar card resurrects it, but the timing is where the design gets its teeth. The trigger fires at the beginning of your end step, well after combat, so it is not a fog and it does not rescue anything from attacks it walked into that turn. What it does is untap every creature in play and phase them all out until a player planeswalks. That symmetry matters: it is a global reset, not a private shield. The board goes blank, attackers and blockers alike vanish, and the permanents come back only when a player planeswalks to a new plane. Because the return is keyed to a planeswalk rather than a fixed number of turns, whoever controls the pace of planar movement controls when the creatures reappear, turning phasing's old symmetric quirk into a scheduling problem the table has to solve together. The chaos trigger stapling two vigilant Knight tokens onto the plane keeps the Zhalfir flavor intact and gives the roll a payoff beyond mere movement. It is a plane built around a mechanic most designs treat as a liability, using the planeswalk trigger as the natural off-switch phasing always lacked.
