Unity of Purpose

The instant-speed untap clause is why this card is priced and built the way it is. Support 2 on its own is a modest, multiplayer-flavored counter spreader, the kind of effect a green or white instant would handle at a similar rate. Bolting on "untap each creature you control with a +1/+1 counter" reframes it as a combat and tempo tool: a creature already carrying a counter can attack and then untap to block, or tap for an ability and refresh, all at instant speed on an opponent's turn. Because the spell resolves top to bottom, the two creatures you support are untapped by the same cast, so even a fresh board gives you something. The ceiling, though, sits in a team already invested in counters, where the untap line scales across the whole board rather than the two creatures the spell itself targets. That dependency is the catch: cast it into a board with no prior counters and you only ever untap the pair you just pumped, which asks you to commit to a counters theme before the card earns its slot. It belongs to the effects that try to make +1/+1 counters do double duty, a resource you can cash for pseudo-vigilance or repeated activations rather than a flat stat bump, and instant timing is the reason it plays differently from the sorcery-speed pump spells that share its color.
